Hello again,
It’s been a while since I last wrote. Long enough that you might be wondering, “When did I subscribe to this?”
Fair question. I’m Dr Haris Ghole—dentist, occasional painter, and someone with rather more interests than hours in the day.
Rather than return to your inbox with only an announcement, I wanted to share a useful reminder, a small thought about life, and something personal I’ve been working on.
A small dental reminder
If you brush twice a day but rarely clean between your teeth, there’s an easy opportunity to improve your routine.
Toothbrush bristles don’t reliably reach the tight spaces between teeth. Floss or appropriately sized interdental brushes can help clean those areas. The best option depends on your teeth and the spaces between them—your dentist can help you choose.
And if your gums regularly bleed, don’t simply accept that as normal or assume you need to scrub harder. Be gentle, keep cleaning, and have persistent bleeding checked.
Your teeth don’t need an elaborate morning routine. They do appreciate consistency. Annoyingly, the same seems to apply to most things in life.
You’re allowed to have more than one interest
Outside dentistry, I’ve always been drawn to painting, clothing, photography and design.
For a long time, these felt like separate parts of my life. Recently, I’ve started thinking they don’t need to fit neatly into separate boxes.
You can take your work seriously and still make something simply because you enjoy it. A hobby doesn’t have to become a business, win an award or justify the shelf space it occupies.
Although, if you’ve seen how much space camera equipment takes up, that last point may require negotiation at home.
A little of my world, now yours to explore
That curiosity—and the creativity in my family—has found a home in The Dentist’s Edit, my online store.
Some of you may remember it as Modern Muse. The new name feels more personal, and closer to the people behind it.
It started with a stainless-steel tongue scraper, which became our first bestseller. Today, the shop brings together:
Oral-care essentials, with the collection guided by my experience as a dentist.
ELMNT and Manihar, our T-shirts and boutique clothing.
Clay by Noon Gunna, my wife Dr Manal’s handmade clay jewellery.
DOT, my sister Dr Kinza’s crochet creations.
Art by Ghole, my paintings.
Curated Finds, everyday pieces we source and select.
Some things we make. Others we source. That distinction matters to me, and I want it to be clear when you browse.
My dental experience guides the oral-care side. The rest comes from our family’s creativity and my taste—no clinical endorsement of a T-shirt implied.
The idea behind the shop is simple: every product should have a reason to be here.
If something catches your eye, I’d love for you to take a closer look. And if shopping isn’t on your list today, I hope you’re leaving with a useful reminder and permission to spend a little time on something you enjoy.
One question before I go: what’s something you love doing that has nothing to do with your work?
Reply and tell me. I’d enjoy hearing about that side of your life, too.
Warmly,
Dr Haris Ghole
Dentist by profession. Curious about life.
