Three months of 2026 are already behind us. And if I’m being honest, it doesn’t feel like a “new year” at all. It feels like we simply continued… with more noise, more chaos, more uncertainty—and yet, somehow, more clarity too.

The World Feels Heavy

Every time I open the news, there’s something unsettling.

Wars continuing. Conflicts escalating. People suffering in parts of the world most of us will never visit—but somehow still feel connected to. Economies shaking. Everyday gives you a new depression to think about.

And yet, at the same time, there are moments of progress.

Technology moving forward at an unbelievable pace. Medicine evolving. People building, creating, sharing knowledge. Individuals rising above circumstances and doing meaningful work.

It’s a strange contrast—destruction and growth happening side by side.

And I often find myself thinking:

Where do I fit into all of this?

Running a Business in Pakistan: A Daily Test of Patience

Running a dental practice in Pakistan is not just about dentistry.

It’s about navigating a system that often works against you. And one of the most immediate challenges we’re facing these days is something as basic as electricity.

Frequent outages and unpredictability with Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) don’t just disrupt operations—they affect patient care, scheduling, and the overall experience we strive to provide.

But beyond outages, there are deeper concerns—overbilling, questionable charges, and a lack of transparency that makes it difficult to trust the system you depend on daily. At times, it genuinely feels less like a service and more like something you have to constantly fight just to keep your work running. A system where, sometimes, doing things the right way feels like the hardest way.

Resilience is built here.

If you can run a business in this environment, you develop a kind of mental toughness that no textbook can teach.

And maybe that’s part of the journey.

The Next Generation: Brilliant, But Distracted

One of the most interesting challenges I’ve faced recently is working with Gen Z.

They are smart. Sharp. Fast learners.

But they’re also… distracted.

Attention spans are shorter. Consistency is harder. The desire for quick results is stronger than ever.

And I don’t blame them entirely.

They’ve grown up in a world of instant gratification—where success looks like a 30-second reel going viral.

But real growth—whether in dentistry, business, or life—still requires something very old-school:

Patience. Repetition. Discipline.

As someone who teaches and mentors, I constantly find myself asking:

How do I bridge this gap?
How do I make them fall in love with the process, not just the outcome?

I don’t have all the answers yet.

But I’m trying.

Letting Go… and Expanding at the Same Time

This year has also been about difficult decisions.

Letting go of things that once felt important.
Stepping away from ideas, projects, or even directions that no longer align.

That’s not easy.

Because sometimes, what you’re letting go of isn’t “bad”—it’s just not right anymore.

At the same time, there’s expansion.

New ideas.
New directions.
New ways of thinking about impact.

I’ve started to look at my work not just as a dental practice—but as a platform.

A platform to:

• Educate

• Create awareness

• Build trust

• Leave something meaningful behind

YouTube, Content, and the Long Game

My journey with YouTube has been… slow.

Slower than I expected. Slower than what social media makes you believe is “normal.”

But I’ve come to terms with it.

Because I’m no longer chasing virality.

I’m chasing value.

If one video genuinely helps someone understand their dental health better, make a decision, or avoid a mistake—that matters.

And maybe the goal isn’t to grow fast.

Maybe the goal is to grow right.

A Shift in Priorities

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about family.

About time.

About what actually matters when everything else is stripped away.

Because at the end of the day, no achievement replaces:

• Time spent with loved ones

• Peace of mind

• A sense of purpose

And I think this year is slowly pushing me in that direction.

To build—not just for income or growth—but for impact.

Long-term impact.

The kind that:

Where Do We Go From Here?

If the first quarter of 2026 has taught me anything, it’s this:

You can’t control the world.

You can’t control systems.
You can’t control chaos.
You can’t control how fast things move.

And maybe that’s enough.

We live in a complicated time.

But maybe that’s also an opportunity.

Everyone knows candy and soda are bad for teeth. But did you know some of the foods and drinks you think are “healthy” or “harmless” can be just as sneaky? I’m not here to ban your favorites—I love most of these too. My job is just to help you enjoy them without letting your next dental visit turn into a nightmare. So here are 12 surprising culprits, and some smart ways to still enjoy them.

1. Dried Fruit

Raisins, dates, apricots—sounds healthy, right? But dried fruits are basically “nature’s gummy candy.” They’re sticky, packed with sugar, and cling to your teeth. Perfect food for cavity bacteria.
👉 What to do: Have them with meals instead of snacking alone. Drink water after, and brush well.

2. Chewing Ice

It’s just frozen water! But biting on ice can chip enamel or even crack a tooth. Cold makes enamel brittle, and ice is rock-hard.
👉 What to do: Break the habit. If you need to chew something, go for sugar-free gum.

3. Herbal Tea

Herbal and green teas look innocent, but they contain tannins that stain teeth. Add in lemon or berry flavors, and you’ve got acidity too.
👉 What to do: Rinse your mouth with water after tea. Don’t sip all day—finish in one go.

4. Kombucha

Trendy, fizzy, probiotic… but also acidic and sometimes sugary. Sip it slowly, and your teeth are bathing in acid the whole time.
👉 What to do: Drink it with meals, use a straw, and rinse with water after.

5. Cough Drops

Most cough drops are just candy in disguise—full of sugar. They stay in your mouth for ages, coating your teeth in sweetness.
👉 What to do: Choose sugar-free ones if possible, and never fall asleep with one in your mouth.

6. Sugar-Free Candy & Diet Soda

“Sugar-free” doesn’t mean tooth-friendly. Diet sodas and sugar-free sweets often have acids that erode enamel just like sugar would.
👉 What to do: Treat them like regular sweets. Have them in moderation, with meals, and rinse after.

7. Potato Chips & Crackers

Not sweet, but starchy. Chips and crackers turn into a sticky paste that sits in your molars and breaks down into sugar.
👉 What to do: Don’t snack on them alone all day. Drink water, floss after, or switch to nuts or crunchy veggies.

8. Gummy Vitamins

Tasty, but sticky and sugary. To your teeth, they’re just gummy bears with vitamins inside.
👉 What to do: Take them with meals, rinse after, or switch to chewable or pill forms.

9. Pickles & Vinegary Foods

That tangy crunch comes from vinegar—acid again. Frequent snacking on pickles or vinegar dressings can wear down enamel.
👉 What to do: Enjoy them in moderation. Rinse with water after, and balance with cheese or dairy to neutralize acid.

10. Sparkling Water

Plain water is best. Sparkling water is still acidic because of carbonation, and flavored ones can be even worse than juice.
👉 What to do: Don’t sip it all day. Use a straw, drink in one go, and follow with plain water.

11. Citrus Fruits & Juices

Vitamin C is great, but the acid in lemons, limes, and oranges can soften enamel. Orange juice is a double hit—sugar + acid.
👉 What to do: Use a straw for juices, rinse after, and wait 30 minutes before brushing.

I don’t believe in cutting out everything you love. Life’s too short. Just be smart—balance, rinse with water, brush and floss daily, and see your dentist regularly. That way you can enjoy your favourite snacks and keep your smile strong.

We’ve all heard it: “Drink 8 glasses of water a day!” But let’s be honest — most of us forget, or we end up chugging two glasses right before bed and then regretting it at 3 a.m.

The good news? Staying hydrated doesn’t always mean forcing yourself to gulp down plain water all day. Here are some practical ways to keep your body happy and hydrated — without the constant nagging of a water bottle.

1. Eat Your Water 💧

Did you know cucumber is 96% water? Watermelon, oranges, strawberries, and even lettuce are hydration heroes too. By snacking on these throughout the day, you’re basically eating your water — no effort required.

2. Add Flavor Without the Sugar 🍋

Plain water can feel boring. Try squeezing lemon, adding a slice of cucumber, or throwing in some mint leaves. Suddenly, water feels like a fancy spa drink.

3. Hydrate Through Your Routine ⏰

Instead of reminding yourself every hour, build hydration into habits.

• A glass of water as soon as you wake up.

• A sip every time you take a work break.

• Keep a small glass with every meal.

It becomes automatic, not forced.

4. Don’t Forget Soups, Smoothies, and Herbal Teas ☕

Hydration doesn’t only come from water. Soups, fresh juices, smoothies, and caffeine-free teas all count toward your daily fluid intake. Think of them as bonus ways to stay fresh.

5. Listen to Your Body, Not Just the Clock 👂

Dry mouth, headaches, fatigue — all are signs you need fluids. Instead of aiming for a “magic number of glasses,” simply pay attention to your body’s signals.

Speaking of water, global warming is already showing its impact in South Asia — especially in Pakistan. Instead of predictable weather patterns, we now face untimely rains that disrupt daily life and agriculture. Floods have become a recurring nightmare, overwhelming cities and villages that were never designed to withstand such extremes. Every year, families lose homes, livelihoods, and loved ones, reminding us how fragile we are in front of nature’s changing moods. The real crisis is no longer distant — it’s here, shaping how we live today.

I couldn’t help but feel how powerless we are in front of God Almighty. A single night of heavy rain, and the world we build gets swallowed in minutes. It’s humbling, and it reminds me not to take the basics — like clean water — for granted.

A cloudburst is when the sky suddenly pours an enormous amount of rain in a very short time — imagine a whole month’s rainfall in less than an hour, over just one small valley. It’s like the clouds couldn’t hold it anymore and just let go at once. That’s why villages in hilly areas get washed away so suddenly — there’s no time to prepare.

Why Do They Happen?

The science is simple, yet humbling. Warm air carries a lot of moisture. When it gets forced upward by mountains and suddenly cools, the water drops all at once. In recent years, as the air has grown warmer due to climate change, it carries even more moisture — and so these events are becoming more common, not less.

It’s nature’s way of reminding us: we are not in control.

Where Are They Most Dangerous?

Cloudbursts usually strike mountainous regions — Gilgit, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and across the Himalayas. Just this month, parts of Pakistan and India have lost hundreds of lives to them. Homes flattened, roads gone, families broken.

But here’s something to think about: while cloudbursts are a natural event, their impact is man-made. Building homes in dangerous areas, cutting down forests, poor planning — all of it makes the floods deadlier.

What Can We Do?

We can’t stop the rain — but we can reduce the damage.

• As citizens and communities: we can spread awareness, avoid risky travel in monsoon season, and support each other with relief drives. Even small acts — donating, volunteering, checking on neighbors — make a difference.

• As a government: there must be stronger early-warning systems, and a clear policy to temporarily stop tourism to fragile mountain areas during flood season. People love to visit these places, but no holiday is worth risking hundreds of lives.

Preparedness is protection.

A cloudburst teaches us that life can change in minutes. We can’t control the skies, but we can control how we respond: with knowledge, kindness, and responsibility.

If each of us takes even a small step — whether it’s planting a tree, helping a family, or raising our voice for safer policies — then we’re not powerless.

Stay safe, stay compassionate, and never lose hope.

At first, I almost walked past. Crows are everywhere; what’s the big deal? But then I stopped. Not because it was rare, but because I realized that in all these years, I had never noticed one before.

Maybe I had seen baby crows before. Maybe I had even walked right past them. But this was the first time I really observed one — the way its feathers were still a little uneven, how its beak seemed too large for its head, and the awkward confidence with which it hopped from branch to branch.

That moment took me back to what photography has been teaching me for years:
The world doesn’t lack beauty — we just fail to notice it.

When I first picked up a camera, I thought photography was about chasing grand moments — sunsets over mountains, iconic city skylines, dramatic portraits. Over time, I’ve learned that the most powerful photographs often come from moments that hide in plain sight. The wrinkle of a smile, the way light falls through a café window, the silent story of a half-empty bench in the park.

Photography has trained my eyes to slow down. To notice. To frame life, not just live it on autopilot.

It’s not that extraordinary scenes happen more often now — it’s that I’m finally paying attention to them.

And maybe that’s the real reward of any hobby. It changes how you move through the world.

For me, the lens has become a reminder that life is full of “baby crow” moments — small, easily missed, and deeply beautiful if we only pause to look.

I wasn’t expecting much. Maybe a motivational quote or a listicle with tips like “drink water” and “make your bed.” But that night, something felt different. The kind of stillness that isn’t peaceful — it’s heavy. Like being awake inside a paused movie.

If you've ever been there, you'll know: this kind of stuckness doesn’t shout. It whispers. You go through the motions — work, study, reply, scroll — but somewhere beneath it all, something feels like it’s waiting. Watching.

You’re not broken. Just still.

The Story We Tell Ourselves

This is the part where logic quietly steps aside.

We don’t always make decisions based on what’s best — we follow patterns, playbooks, inherited expectations. We choose the career that looked shiny from a distance. The life plan that made sense on paper. And then, without realizing it, we keep living it long after it stopped fitting.

But the real battle isn’t in the outside world. It’s the quiet voice inside that asks:
“What if I’m not brave enough to change?”

We wear titles like armor — Doctor. Manager. Artist. The one who always made the right choices. And over time, we become so skilled at performing the role that we stop asking the most important question:
Do I still want this?

The Illusion of Movement

We scroll, we apply, we plan, we talk. It feels like action. But not all motion is progress.

Sometimes, we’re busy avoiding the next real step. We research instead of deciding. We tweak plans instead of starting. We look for “signs” instead of listening to what we already know.

Getting unstuck begins when we stop waiting for clarity and start creating it — through action, not overthinking.

Ever felt like you’re running in circles? You're doing things — working, studying, planning — but deep down, something feels... stuck.

And no one tells you how common this feeling is — especially for people who are ambitious, creative, or in the middle of transition.

But Here's What They Don’t Tell You

Getting stuck doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It means your mind is negotiating with your heart — and they haven’t come to terms yet.

You tweak your CV. You read another book. You rewatch that TED talk. It feels like progress. But you’re orbiting. You’re not landing.

And deep down, you know the truth:
You already have enough clarity. You’re just afraid of what acting on it might change.

Why We Really Get Stuck

Not because we're lazy. Not because we’re incapable.

We get stuck when:

• We're afraid of failing in public.

• We care too much about what others will say.

• We don’t want to disappoint someone we love.

• We’ve tied our identity to a path that no longer fits.

• Or we’re just exhausted, and haven’t had the space to think clearly.

Recognizing the real reason is half the work.

So Let Me Tell You a Secret

The people who do move forward? They’re not braver. Not smarter. Just slightly more willing to begin.

They don’t wait for the fear to leave. They invite it in and act anyway. They take one real step — a decision, a call, a new page — and that’s what breaks the loop.

In Rowling’s words,

“It is our choices… that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

Here’s What Helped Me

• Start ugly. Forget perfection. Begin anyway.

• Shrink the goal. Don’t change your life. Change your hour.

• Talk aloud. Your mind will surprise you when you hear it in your own voice.

• Change your scenery. New surroundings ignite old parts of you.

• Do the hard thing first. You know which one.

The Real Magic

You’re not stuck because you don’t know. You’re stuck because you do — and change takes courage.

But courage is just action in the presence of fear.

And that, my friend, is where all stories begin.

Here’s a simple framework I would like to share:

1. Know Yourself – What are your strengths, interests, and values? What kind of problems do you enjoy solving? Write it down somewhere. Thinking alone won’t help. Writing it down will actually open up your mind and will have you think ‘literally’.

2. Understand Your Options – Don’t limit yourself to what you see around you. Explore traditional paths, interdisciplinary roles, and even careers that didn’t exist a few years ago. Invent possibilities and then explore. You’d be surprised how often what you dream up is already being done by someone, somewhere. The future belongs to those who dare to explore beyond the obvious.

3. Test Before You Commit – Shadow someone, volunteer, intern, or take a short course. Test the waters before you dive in.

4. Think Long-Term, Not Short-Term – Look for growth, impact, and sustainability. Choose a path you wouldn’t mind doing for free — then learn how to make money doing it. Money is important, and that is why you don’t have to risk all the good money you have to make in future by making a wrong short-sighted decision today.

5. Visualize Your Ideal Workweek – Not a vacation — but a regular, fulfilling, non-vacation week. What are you doing? Who are you working with? How do you feel?

6. Look at the Lifestyle – Some careers may seem attractive but demand 80-hour weeks or constant travel. Ask yourself: will this lifestyle make me happy?
   

7. Check the Earning Potential & Growth – Money isn’t everything — but it does affect your freedom, stability, and options. Consider growth potential as well as starting income.
   

8. Talk to People in That Field – One honest conversation with someone 5–10 years into a career can save you years of regret. When seeking advice, choose your sources wisely—listen to those who have walked the path successfully, not those who gave up or became disillusioned. People who didn’t make it often speak from their pain, not perspective—and their reasons for failure may have nothing to do with your potential.
   

9. Don’t Choose Just to Please Others – This is your life, not theirs. Guidance is good — but ultimately, the career should align with your purpose, not others' expectations.
   

10. Allow Yourself to Change Later – Your first career decision isn’t your last. Most people pivot once or twice. Think of it as choosing a direction — not a forever path.

Let me start with a bit of honesty — I vanished from this newsletter for the last two months.
No excuses. No productivity quotes. Just life… happening.

And maybe that’s exactly what I needed — a pause.

So, Where Was I?

In the last two months, I’ve been traveling through the UK, walking nearly 20 km a day, hiking through the Lake District, exploring London and Edinburgh, attending ceremony at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and squeezing in moments of reflection, filmmaking, and pure silence.

It wasn’t all glamorous — some days felt chaotic, others deeply peaceful. But in that pause, I found a kind of clarity that work alone couldn’t give me.

And while I wasn’t sending newsletters or creating content as regularly, I was living — which, sometimes, is the most creative thing you can do.

Let’s Talk About Breaks — Especially for Us

Whether you're a dentist, a student, a content creator, or just someone with big goals — you probably carry this invisible pressure to keep going. We’ve been taught that rest equals laziness. That if you’re not working, you’re falling behind. That consistency is king, even when you’re running on empty.

But let’s zoom out.

I know brilliant female colleagues who’ve paused their careers to get married, relocate, start a family — or even just take a breath and prioritize their mental health.
I’ve seen highly skilled female dentists step away from practice for a while — not because they lacked ambition, but because life demanded a different kind of strength from them at that moment.

And yet, many of them wrestled with guilt.
Worried they’d be left behind.
Feared that stepping away would mean starting over.

But here’s what’s incredible:
They came back stronger.
With more clarity, more purpose, and a fire that wasn’t dimmed — only refined.

Some opened their own clinics.
Some upskilled and re-entered the profession with new confidence.
Some found a whole new path within dentistry that aligned better with their life.

Because the truth is:
Taking time off doesn’t weaken you — it recalibrates you.
It allows you to grow in other dimensions, build resilience, and come back with a fuller understanding of who you are — not just as a professional, but as a person.

Your skills, your knowledge, your ambition — they don’t disappear just because you unplug for a season.

So Here’s the Takeaway:

You don’t have to earn your rest.
You’re allowed to be offline. To not have all the answers. To disappear for a bit.
And still return… better, clearer, stronger.

Try this today:
Instead of asking, “What did I do this week?”
Ask: “Did I give myself what I needed this week?”
That question changes everything.

I wrote the following paragraph last month, and it was gathering digital dust since then:

“I’ll talk about the war tensions between Pakistan and India, the hot weather that is here to stay for a few months, the changing attitudes of our younger generation towards money and hard work”

but I had to come to London and the time-zone-changes and the activities and work here has prevented me from updating you guys for a long time. I missed last month’s newsletter. Which was supposed to be this newsletter.

Hara hachi bu (腹八分目) is a Japanese phrase meaning "eat until you are 80% full". It's a traditional practice, particularly in Okinawa, that encourages mindful eating and moderation to promote health and longevity. If you follow islam, you must know that this is also the practice and Sunnah of our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

Limiting what you eat will also help. Like for example, just remove roti and rice from your diet, and see for yourself how your fat will go away!

I love London! It is undoubtedly one of the best cities in the world. I’ll post some content on my YouTube to explain what I think so.

Oh, and belated Eid Mubarak!! I hope you all had a great Eid. I spent it away from family in London. I did meet some of my family here as well which was very nice. The mosque experience here was very new for me and I kind of liked it. It is always a good thing to experience change. Change in atmosphere, change in people, change in your story of life. But it is also important to be consistent and disciplined. It is a fine line that we learn as we grow old.

Funny enough, I’ve heard a lot of people say their Eid felt uneventful this year. But honestly, I think that’s a bit of a hidden blessing. In a world that rarely slows down, having the luxury to feel bored — to pause, rest, and do nothing — is something to be grateful for. Not everyone gets that space. So if your Eid was quiet, maybe that’s exactly what you needed.

💰 How to Get Rich

I recently stumbled upon a video by one of my favourite YouTubers, Ali Abdaal, titled “How to Get Rich” — and let’s just say, it’s not your typical “get rich quick” spiel.

Ali’s central message is strikingly simple (and uncomfortable):

He reflects on his journey from junior doctor to multimillionaire entrepreneur, admitting that success didn’t come from balance — it came from relentless focus. In 2020, almost every moment of his spare time was devoted to consuming content on business, marketing, and financial growth.

He shares the story of a friend who wanted to be rich but wasn’t putting in the time or energy toward that goal — a disconnect he believes leads to internal frustration. If your actions don’t align with your ambitions, it creates a painful gap.

Ali’s takeaway is blunt: If you truly want to be rich, you have to obsess over it — often at the cost of other areas of life. And if you’re not willing to pay that price, maybe wealth isn’t what you’re really after.

Either change what you’re doing — or change what you want.

Pakistan’s Champions Trophy Exit: Enough is Enough!

Pakistan’s humiliating exit from the Champions Trophy—on our own home soil—should be the final nail in the coffin of this outdated, spineless team! Losing to New Zealand was bad enough, but getting outclassed by India without even putting up a fight? Unacceptable! Where was the intent? Where was the hunger? Where was the Pakistan cricket we once knew?

Shoaib Akhtar is right—this was a shameful performance, lacking any fire or purpose. Wasim Akram, Danish Kaneria, and countless other legends have pointed out the obvious: our cricket is being run on personal friendships, not merit. Babar Azam, as talented as he is, has proven time and again that he is not a leader. It’s time for him and the other underperforming seniors to step down with dignity. If their performances warrant a comeback, they can earn their place back—but right now, they don’t deserve a spot.

And let’s talk about the PCB —how long will we let politics and favoritism destroy our cricket? Pakistan needs a system based on merit, real leadership, and proper fitness standards. Otherwise, our cricket will continue to sink while the rest of the world moves ahead.

Filmmaking and the Power of Storytelling

On a personal note, I’ve completed my filmmaking diploma—a journey that has given me a fresh perspective on storytelling, composition, and visual creativity.

It’s fascinating how much our brains absorb from visual cues without us even realizing it. As I step into this new creative chapter, I’m excited to blend storytelling with my professional experiences. Who knows? Maybe a short film is on the horizon.

A Challenge for This Month: Digital Detox

Since Ramadan encourages mindfulness, why not take it a step further? Here’s a challenge for the month—a digital detox:

✅ Spend one hour a day completely unplugged—no social media, no notifications.
✅ Replace screen time with reading, reflection, or real conversations.
✅ Notice how your mind resets when it's not constantly absorbing online noise.

One day we went to Cue Cinemas to watch Sonic, scheduled for 2.30 pm. But when we reached there, we were told the cinema is empty with zero bookings and therefore the screening will be cancelled unless two more bookings come in. It was 2.30 and it didn’t look like there's going to be anyone coming this way so we headed to Packages Mall. But when we reached there, the only movie that was running at the time was Gladiator 2 and some Punjabi movie. When I reached the ticket counter to book tickets for Gladiator, to my surprise, it was cancelled as well due to no show. Such is the state of Pakistani cinemas these days.

A little life update. I’ve started studying a new subject that I have been passionate about since my school days. I’m studying Filmmaking at one of the best universities in Pakistan. Have you ever wondered whether you have bad breath but weren't quite sure how to tell? You're not alone! Bad breath, or halitosis, is something most people experience from time to time. However, persistent bad breath can be embarrassing and a sign of underlying oral health issues. In today’s newsletter, I’ll walk you through simple ways to know if you have bad breath and what steps you can take to freshen things up.

1. The Self-Test

One of the easiest ways to check for bad breath is by doing a quick self-test:

• Lick the back of your hand, let it dry for a few seconds, and then smell the area. If it smells unpleasant, your breath might need some attention.

• Another method is to floss between your back teeth and smell the floss. An unpleasant odor indicates that food debris and bacteria might be contributing to bad breath.

2. Ask a Trusted Friend

If you're comfortable, ask someone close to you for an honest opinion. It can feel awkward, but having someone you trust give you feedback can save you from embarrassment in social situations.

3. Common Causes of Bad Breath

Bad breath can come from several sources, including:

• Food particles: Leftover food particles in your mouth can feed bacteria, leading to foul odors.

• Dry mouth: Saliva helps cleanse the mouth. If you have dry mouth, either from dehydration or certain medications, bacteria can grow more easily.

• Poor oral hygiene: Not brushing and flossing properly allows plaque buildup, which can cause bad breath.

• Medical conditions: Sometimes, chronic bad breath can be a sign of a deeper health issue like gum disease, diabetes, or acid reflux.

4. Freshening Up – What Can You Do?

Here are some tips to keep your breath fresh:

• Brush and floss regularly: Twice a day brushing and daily flossing are non-negotiable for fresh breath.

• Tongue cleaner: Use a tongue clear before you go to sleep to clean the debris accumulated on the tongue surface.

• Stay hydrated: Drink water throughout the day to avoid dry mouth.

• Use a mouthwash: Antimicrobial mouthwashes can kill odor-causing bacteria.

• Chew sugarless gum: It stimulates saliva production and helps rinse away food particles.

• Visit your dentist: Regular checkups are crucial in identifying and treating any oral health issues that may be causing bad breath.

5. When to See a Professional

If you've tried these steps and still struggle with persistent bad breath, it's a good idea to visit your dentist. Bad breath can be an indicator of underlying dental issues like cavities or gum disease that need professional treatment.

Bad breath is something we all deal with at some point, but it doesn't have to hold you back. With good oral hygiene habits and awareness, you can tackle bad breath head-on and keep your mouth feeling fresh and confident.

Is independence overrated? What is independence anyway if there’s no rule of law? I wanted to publish this newsletter on the Independence Day of Pakistan, but due to internet issues I wasn’t able to complete it and then work happened and here we are, 30th of August, Friday. Not sure what most people want these days. Independent country, or visa free travel to other countries.

The one positive thing we can takeaway from the ‘firewall’ frenzy the IT experts in our government are after, is blocking undesirable things, and people from your life. I have a lot of dental students and young dentists in my list, and I get a lot of queries from them asking for guidance, help and support in dealing with difficult patients. Difficult patients as in difficult people. People who don’t respect doctors, who look down upon female gender of dentists, people who don’t value your time or effort, people who aren’t ready to pay you what you’re worth, and so on.

While the advice is different for different scenarios, sometimes it makes more sense to let go of the negativity. Why spend your energy in dealing with difficult people, when you can utilise the same energy in winning new patients who respect you. There are more positive happy people in the world than there are negative ones. More often than not, the patients who are not happy with you, are also not happy with their barber, with their family, and with their cat. The problem is them and not you.

I personally try to help as many people as I can and a small chunk of the people I treat are difficult ones, but sometimes I think it is better to let go of the extra stress that they cause you and focus on bringing happiness to people who value it.

🧬 Lifestyle Design

I am a big fan of sling bags. They help you in carrying a lot of things without crowding your pockets. I have always had my eyes on Bellroy Sling, Aer City Sling, and my recent favourite Alpaka flight sling. Out of these, the Alpaka has been my favourite sling but I didn’t want to wait for someone to come from abroad and bring me these. So I tried Alpinebear’s Sling bag. I have been using Alpinebear products for quite a while now and they make some of the highest quality stuff in Pakistan. The sling bag was no different.

There’s one downside though, the delivery took almost a whole month and the customer service wasn’t that great and they kept giving me false promises and wrong dates about when my product will be delivered. The customer service has always been an issue with Pakistani companies unfortunately and this is something that I personally want to improve in my companies as well. For a fraction of price that the other brands were asking, the wait is worth it for such a good quality bag. I’ll update on how it holds up as it becomes a part of my daily edc.

Tired of the Lahori summers, many lahoris find shelter in the mountains of the north. But it requires time and freedom. Both of which are very rare and hard to find. Khair, we had to visit Islamabad for ‘some’ work and we tried to make the best of it.

We were trying to escape the Lahori summers only to find out there’s another version of summer that we don’t like. The Isloo summers. While the weather wasn’t as bad, it wasn’t a very outdoorsy weather. We had to find some indoor activities to make the most of our mini weekend vacation. Indoor activities meant food mostly. Islamabad did have more to offer though.

So we stayed in Bahria Town Phase 7, which is in Rawalpindi but for some reason people don’t want to associate anything with Rawalpindi. DHA Islamabad is actually DHA Rawalpindi. Giga Mall is also in Pindi. I was amazed to see how people think of Rawalpindi so lowly. Bahria Town was amazing and so beautiful. Giga Mall was nice too. Lahore has nicer malls though. But Islamabad has a great vibe. Mountains, the cleanliness, and the atmosphere. There’s something about this city that makes you want to live here.

We were recommended Tiger Temple by a lot of people. Asian fusion cuisine. It was okayish. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff but we didn’t find it extraordinary. We visited the very crowded Lake View Park, it was huge. Pakistan Monument was nice. There was a museum too that was closed when we went there but we enjoyed good views of the city.

The weather wasn’t the best so we had to do something about it. The best thing about Islamabad is that the hilly areas are just an hour’s drive away. And that is what we did. Stayed a night in Bhurban before coming back to Islamabad.

To wrap up the trip, our last adventure was MegaZone in Fatima Jinnah park where I tried ‘ice'-skating for the first time in my life, with my wife. It was fun. Not sure if you guys are bored by all of the above details, so I’ll stop here.

I recently got this magnetic key holder from Waldor. A Pakistani brand that has successfully copied Bellroy key organiser. The quality is pretty good and the design is great too. I really like the leather finish and the colour. Works great with your car key as well.

There are very minor functional issues but considering that it is at the fraction of the price of Bellroy, and that it is well made, I think this is a great bargain. Also a great gift for men. Will be featuring an amazing sling bag in the next edition of Smile Gazette.

I don’t believe in wasteful spending and in today’s era with all this marketing we are always tempted by new clothes, new watches and these blingy things.

We chose the noon gunna for a very specific reason. There is a vast variety of Urdu words where noon gunna is used. But no new word starts with noon gunna. That’s the concept of our store. Not to create any new waste in our environment. And only reuse and recycle what we own.

You must have heard of this joke. There are benefits of almost everything organic, and otherwise. Your diet, your lifestyle, your activity levels, your genetics, all these factors combine to determine what can affect and impact your weight loss journey.

A google search can give you knowledge. But most of the times, knowledge will be limited. Limited knowledge is dangerous and does more harm than good.

Spend your life in moderation and take advice of experts in their fields. Listen to your body and your parents. Your parents have been taking care of you since long. Sometimes they know you better than you know yourself.

Maintain a positive mindset and work hard to achieve your goals.

So I am a full time dentist who does YouTube and content creation online when he gets free time. I am also an entrepreneur and small business owner, and you must imagine how hard it would be to manage multiple things at the same time. I’m also a family man and a human being. But aren’t we all a lot of things, do a lot of things and spend time in a lot of different ways? Our thought process usually favours us in a way that is biased towards procrastination, laziness, and why-me-ness.

We tend to think of ourselves as either super-men, or good-for-nothing losers. The reality is that most of us are the same. We have different lives, different issues, different minds, different circumstances. We don’t have any control over most of these things. There’s a common point that if we are able to visualise and adapt, can have a very positive impact on our overall life, and that is, Positive Energy.

Positive energy makes everything easier, and also fun (which I believe is an attribute more important than anything else). It comes from being grateful, seeing good in everything, trying to take everything with a spoonful of optimism and believing in yourself, and God, the Almighty.

Positive energy is contagious and it gets work done. It also helps uplift mood of people around you, and helps transforms difficult scenarios into will-do goals.
